Buyer / Senior Buyer with responsibility for materials purchasing and control sought
Printed Motor Works are designers and manufacturers of electric motors, drive systems and joysticks providing complete solutions for motion control applications. We have a challenging mix of ongoing serial production and development projects involving new leading edge technologies to be taken from prototype to volume manufacture.
Candidates should:
- Have experience with mechanical and electronic components and be enthusiastic about joining a small but growing team. Qualified or part-qualified CIPS candidates preferred
- Be able to operate our software supported MRP II environment
- Have direct experience of ISO9001:2000, have a comprehensive understanding of process and process control, be competent in lean manufacturing and be able to define and monitor KPIs
- Have a confident telephone manner
- Be flexible, efficient and able to prioritise workload in a busy working environment
- Be proactive in identifying sourcing opportunities

Reporting to: Production Manager
Salary: Based on experience and qualification
Hours: 37.5hrs per week (although flexibility is often required in order to meet customer deadlines) (8.30am – 5.15pm Mon – Thurs, 8.30am – 1pm Fri)
General responsibilities:
- Monitoring and progressing orders with suppliers to ensure that materials are received in time to meet customer deadlines
- Managing an assistant purchaser and control of the Stores Department
- Negotiating with suppliers and sourcing new suppliers in order to reduce costs and improve delivery times
- Supporting the sales department with pricing and lead time information for customer quotes
- Working with the quality department to ensure that high standards are maintained and any issues with supplier deliveries are resolved quickly
- Keeping the sales and production teams informed of any problems with materials that may impact upon customer deadlines
- Liaising with the engineering department to obtain outline drawings and technical information in order to obtain quotes and place orders with suppliers
- Liaising with the stores department to monitor stock levels and deliveries from suppliers
- Preparing for and attending weekly production meetings to report on status of shortages/deliveries and to pass on feedback to the Production Manager about any issues raised
- Use of computer system to place orders, monitor deliveries/stock levels, trace stock, analysis future requirements
- Day-to-day administration, filing and updating of spreadsheets/database as require

Electro-Mechanical Assembler sought
Candidates should:
- Preferably have experience with mechanical and electronic assemblies, motor build experience ideal
- Be enthusiatic and able to adapt to a constantly changing work environment
Job title: Electro-Mechanical Assembler (motor section)
Reporting to: Production Cell Leader
Salary: From £7 per hour based on experience and qualification. Benefits include: 23 days holiday, pension, life cover and excellent transport links: walking distance from Alton train station and on-site parking just off the A31.
Hours: 39hrs per week (although flexibility is often required in order to meet customer deadlines) (7.30am – 4.30pm Mon – Thurs, 7.30am – 12.30pm Fri)
General responsibilities:
- To carry out general electro-mechanical assemblies to drawings and specifications
- Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- General light soldering of wiring and brush assemblies
- Mechanical assembly of components and fixings.
- Bearing fitting
- Understanding and reading of assembly drawings specifications and assembly instructions
- Magnet bonding and gluing
- Drilling and pining of shafts
- Polishing and dressing of armatures
- Motor (brushed and brushless)final assembly
- Motor test
- Motor inspection
- Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures
- Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role
